On this first day of March (wow!) as the beautiful snow falls down, I thought it would be appropriate to post some winter pictures from January and February. Our Snowman friend, Cocoa: I think Anna may share my love for snow. She, however, loves to eat it! Who doesn't though, if we were honest? ;)
Jodi introduced Chuck and I to this song and I just had to pass it on. The words are so worshipful. May we always be struck with awe and wonder as we reflect on who our Savior is and what He has done.
The Wonder of the Cross ~Vicky Beeching O precious sight my Savior stands Dying for me with outstretched Hands O precious sight I love to gaze Remembering salvation's day Remembering salvation's day Though my eyes linger on this scene May passing time and years Not steal the pow'r with which it impacts me The freshness of its mystery The freshness of its mystery
Chorus May I never lose the wonder The wonder of the cross May I see it like the first time Standing as a sinner lost Undone by mercy and left speechless Watching wide eyed at the cost May I never lose the wonder The wonder of the cross
Behold the God-man crucified The perfect sinless Sacrifice As Blood ran down those nails and wood History was split in two Yes history was split in two Behold the empty wooden tree His Body gone alive and free We sing with everlasting joy For sin and death have been destroyed Yes sin and death have been destroyed

Last week we had a beautiful snow and have been enjoying the winter beauty ever since. As the snow was falling last week, I had the rare privilege in the middle of the day to sit by the window and watch the snow fall with a cup of coffee and my Bible. I enjoyed reading in the quiet with my blanket watching the beauty of God's creation. A few minutes into my surreal experience, Jake woke up. He saw me enjoying God's Word and the beauty outside and wanted to join me. We got him all set up with his own blanket and a mug full of "cold hot chocolate." :) He watched the snow fall while I finished up my reading. He was so sweet. He kept saying "This is so nice, this is so nice!" As he sat gazing out the window, he sighed and said "Mommy, I'm so happy with God!" I asked "Why Jake?" And he said "Because he brought down all this snow!!" What a sweetheart. May I rejoice too over the little things God gives us.
One of the best things about winter is being able to enjoy the warmth of inside. Chuck has been keeping us supplied with a nice, glowing fire most of the winter. So soothing.
It doesn't come without a lot of work though. You have to cut the wood, start the fire, keep it going, clean out the ashes...
...and haul and stack the wood outside. Good thing we have so many great helpers!
Language intrigues me. It is fascinating how we communicate. We are able to take certain sounds grouped the same way each time and repeat words. This may sound very obvious and elementary, but in our house beginning to use the English Language correctly has been no small feat. ;) Some of our children more than others have indeed had trouble. We have come to a place, though, where we can finally understand around 90 percent of what is said in our home. Anna, being two, is doing a pretty good job of mastering the language. She mixes up some sounds here and there and has a few invented words, but we can understand her almost completely. The other day, however, she had me stumped. I knew what she was referring to but could not for the life of me understand what word(s) she was saying and why she was calling that particular object the word she kept repeating. She found a set of old mini-dumbbells. They were pink and about her size, therefore very exciting. She lit up every time she saw them as if they were the greatest thing since lolly pops! I thought maybe I could enlist your help in understanding what in the world Anna may be trying to say. If you have a second, please watch the video below and see if you can tell what she's saying. She says the word she calls the little weights a few times and then tells me she got them "in the office."
This song was such an encouragement to me today. I hope it is to you as well. We mothers have an extremely high calling. Even when it doesn't seem glamorous, the teaching, guiding, nurturing and instructing we do with our children may be the most important job we are called to do. With the Lord's help we may be changing the world.
You're up all night with a screaming baby You run all day at the speed of life And every day you feel a little bit less Like the beautiful woman you are
So you fall into bed when you run out of hours And you wonder if anything worth doing got done Oh, maybe you just don't know Or maybe you've forgotten
You, you are changing the world One little heartbeat at a time Making history with every touch and every smile Oh, you, you may not see it now But I believe that time will tell How you, you are changing the world One little heartbeat at a time
With every "I know you can do it" Every tear that you kiss away So many little things that seem to go unnoticed They're just like the drops of rain over time They become a river
And you, you are changing the world One little heartbeat at a time Making history with every touch and every smile Oh, you, you may not see it now But I believe that time will tell How you, you are changing the world One little heartbeat at a time
You, you are changing the world One little heartbeat at a time Making history with every touch and every smile Oh, you, you may not see it now But I believe that time will tell How you, you are changing the world Oh, I believe that you You are changing the world One little heartbeat At a time
I am a wife, mother of five and a daughter of the King. I am on a quest to improve in each of these areas daily. Meanwhile, God's grace is sufficient for me!
"Finally, brothers, we instructed you how to live in order to please God, as in fact you are living. Now we ask you in the Lord Jesus to do this more and more." ~ 1 Thes. 4:1
