Track

This year our two oldest participated in the town youth track club, "Sterling Striders." They had three laid back practices a week and something else we've never done... little kids Track Meet. :) We had never participated or even attended an entire youth Track Meet. It was (chaotically) fun. The weather could have cooperated a bit more (both of the meet days were cold, cloudy and even rainy). But they just cuddledand smiled and did their best. (Aly keeping warm with a couple of her friends)

Caleb and Aly each did two field events for the first meet (something we changed for the next track meet). This year was a learning year. :) Caleb did a great job on his softball throw - over 90 feet. He scratched his long jump twice but still managed to squeeze out a second place medal. Aly did the long jump and softball throw too. She sure improved by her last jump at the second track meet.

Although Caleb did really well in the field events, he really just wanted to run. The second meet he ran, ran, ran. :) He was in the 100m, 200m, 400m and a medley relay.
Breaking the ribbon (first in his heat)! IN-tense!! :)
First leg in his relay. His sis is right there cheering him on. :) GO Caleb!

My Prayer

Show me your ways, O Lord, teach me your paths; guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my Savior, and my hope is in you all day long. Psalm 25:4,5

On this first day of March (wow!) as the beautiful snow falls down, I thought it would be appropriate to post some winter pictures from January and February.
Our Snowman friend, Cocoa:

I think Anna may share my love for snow. She, however, loves to eat it!

Who doesn't though, if we were honest? ;)

Wonder

Jodi introduced Chuck and I to this song and I just had to pass it on. The words are so worshipful. May we always be struck with awe and wonder as we reflect on who our Savior is and what He has done.

The Wonder of the Cross
~Vicky Beeching
O precious sight my Savior stands
Dying for me with outstretched Hands
O precious sight I love to gaze
Remembering salvation's day
Remembering salvation's day
Though my eyes linger on this scene
May passing time and years
Not steal the pow'r with which it impacts me
The freshness of its mystery
The freshness of its mystery

Chorus
May I never lose the wonder
The wonder of the cross
May I see it like the first time
Standing as a sinner lost
Undone by mercy and left speechless
Watching wide eyed at the cost
May I never lose the wonder
The wonder of the cross

Behold the God-man crucified
The perfect sinless Sacrifice
As Blood ran down those nails and wood
History was split in two
Yes history was split in two
Behold the empty wooden tree
His Body gone alive and free
We sing with everlasting joy
For sin and death have been destroyed
Yes sin and death have been destroyed

Sweet Moments

Last week we had a beautiful snow and have been enjoying the winter beauty ever since.

As the snow was falling last week, I had the rare privilege in the middle of the day to sit by the window and watch the snow fall with a cup of coffee and my Bible. I enjoyed reading in the quiet with my blanket watching the beauty of God's creation. A few minutes into my surreal experience, Jake woke up. He saw me enjoying God's Word and the beauty outside and wanted to join me. We got him all set up with his own blanket and a mug full of "cold hot chocolate." :)

He watched the snow fall while I finished up my reading. He was so sweet. He kept saying "This is so nice, this is so nice!" As he sat gazing out the window, he sighed and said "Mommy, I'm so happy with God!" I asked "Why Jake?" And he said "Because he brought down all this snow!!" What a sweetheart. May I rejoice too over the little things God gives us.
One of the best things about winter is being able to enjoy the warmth of inside. Chuck has been keeping us supplied with a nice, glowing fire most of the winter. So soothing.

It doesn't come without a lot of work though. You have to cut the wood, start the fire, keep it going, clean out the ashes...

...and haul and stack the wood outside.
Good thing we have so many great helpers!
